Addicted to oil? Filmmaker and biodiesel enthusiast Josh Tickell received audience praise at the Sundance Film Festival in 2008 for this documentary about energy in America. Exploring our dependence on foreign oil, the history of the oil industry and issues we are currently facing as a nation and as a world, Tickell takes an optimistic approach and presents viewers with the hopeful promise of renewable energy. He also manages to do so in a way that is entertaining, personable, and engaging.

While the film introduces many interesting ideas, it also may raise questions for many viewers about the feasibility of Tickell’s proposed solutions. For this reason, you are invited to stay after the film for a brief follow-up discussion of the film, renewable energy, and other topics that may arise. This event is co-sponsored by Volunteers in Sustainability and the Hutton Honors College and will conclude at approximately 8:30 p.m.  Light refreshments will be provided.
