Biking Beyond IU

Bloomington’s biking culture has a long history. In 1951, the town held its first “Little 500,” the popular amateur bike race. In 1968, the “Hilly Hundred,” the three-day back-roads race through the hills of Southern Indiana, made its debut.  And of course everyone knows the movie Breaking Away, which brought national attention to our unique little town that is Bloomington. The biking culture has grown substantially over the years and continues to be an integral part of the Bloomington Community.
